 Our Situation

The United Church of Penacook is a central part of our community. It is a safe, secure place where caring people offer help. To continue to serve both our congregation and nearby communities, we must address the problems brought on by everyday wear-and-tear of an old building in use seven days a week, by the ravages of New England winters, and by the damage of unwanted water.

Work to be Done

  • Fellowship Hall can continue to serve as a center for community meals and meetings when the flooding in the basement is eliminated.Mold growth will no longer threaten to become a health hazard for those using the space.
  • UCP will provide a bright and safe location to TOPS, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Penacook Community Center seniors, and other community groups which regularly use the building.
  • UCP will be able to provide safer and more convenient parking for those who attend worship services and community events such as public suppers and concerts.
  • The handicapped will be able once again to attend events in the sanctuary with the addition of a disabled-compliant restroom.
  • With a new sound system, those attending services and concerts will experience higher quality sound and amplification will be dispersed more evenly.
  • The handicapped will be able to fully participate in services and fellowship with an elevator between the third level sanctuary and the first level Fellowship Hall.
  • UCP will be able to expand its food pantry and the services it provides to the needy with the expansion and reconfiguration of public space.
  • UCP will present a well-cared for appearance in its neighborhood, its restored steeple a symbol of Christian inspiration, and its walls providing a haven for religious worship and community connections.

Once the general needs were defined, it was time to seek the help of professionals.
